Darline E. Eickert, 98, of DeWitt, IA, (formerly of Clinton) passed away peacefully at Fieldstone of DeWitt on Monday, January 15, 2024.
Funeral services take place at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 26, 2024, at Lemke Funeral Homes – South Chapel. A visitation occurs one hour prior from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Burial immediately follows the funeral service at Clinton Lawn Cemetery.
Lemke Funeral Homes assisted the family with arrangements.
Darline was born July 14, 1925, in Clinton, ia, the daughter of Marvin and Johanna (Hoenicke) Petersen. She was a graduate of Davenport High School.
Darline was united in marriage to Clyde Townsend on February 21, 1945, in Davenport, IA - they later divorced. Darline then married Meril Eickert on October 21, 1966.
She was a past member of the Fulton Presbyterian Church.
Darline owned and operated "The Rusty Nail Lounge" in Low Moor, IA.
Darline loved tending to her garden. She also enjoyed bowling. She was a fabulous cook and folks could always count on a delicious meal at the Rusty Nail. She also passed along her gift of cooking to her children. Later in life she enjoyed traveling. What was very meaningful to her was all of her friendships she developed throughout her life - she was a real people person. Above all, she loved her family very much and will be incredibly missed.
Darline is survived by her three children: Cindy (Mike) Barnes of DeWitt, Russ (Becky) Townsend of DeWitt, Tammy (Wayne) Waters of Marion, IA; nine grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; and many friends.
Darline is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one son – Gary; one great-granddaughter - Aria Townsend and brother Irving Petersen.
Memorials made can be directed to the family.

I didnot know about Darline's passing until today. She was a good friend & hard worker for me at The Big 10 Mart & Sherman's years ago. My Sincere Condolences to her family. She was "one of a kind"! RIP Dear Friend
