In the summer of 1996, my son won a contest to allow him an opportunity to carry the Olympic Torch, on one leg of its journey to Atalanta. Option to purchase the torch was offered and contributed to, by Father Hitch, personally. It was on display in the church foyer for quite some time that fall. It became one of my son's prized possessions! Father Hitch was a great family friend.

Father David Hitch was the most calming, patient, humbling, caring individual I had ever met. I always enjoyed his homilies at the old St. Thomas More church. May he rest in peace. He will be missed by many.

Fr. Hitch was a spiritual leader and recognized the value of women early on. He allowed me to baptize my daughter Anna in 1999, long before I realized a call to ordination. May he rest in peace and be richly rewarded for his ministry to many who needed encouragement and compassion.
