Deborah A. Cerny
December 27, 1955-July 8, 2023
BETTENDORF-Our beautiful mother, Deborah A. Cerny, 67, of Bettendorf, IA, passed away July 8th, 2023, with her two sons by her side.
She was born to the late and great John and Dorothy, on December 27, 1955, in Ohio. She graduated from Fitch High School and continued her education in nursing.
She married the late Dr. Michael Cerny in 1980. Debbie is survived by her two children: Adam Cerny and Ryan Cerny. She is also survived by two brothers: Geary Chlebus (Janice); John Chlebus Jr. Debbie was predeceased by her loving mother in 2021, and her cat companion of over 20 years, Seymour Ann Scooter "Gele" Cavatica Cerny in 2014.
Debbie was most proud of being a mother to her two boys. It was her dream to be a mom. She loved documenting their lives through photos and videos. She always knew exactly what to say and do to make her sons feel loved. "My two boys are my world" was a phrase heard often from her. Debbie and her two sons called themselves the "Three Musketeers". They considered their Mom to be their best friend.
Debbie was passionate in her role as an ER nurse. She was recognized several times for her ability to make patients feel safe. Her empathy served her accomplishments as a mother and a nurse. Debbie was also an ordained minister who married many couples throughout the years.
Her fun and silly sense of humor will live on through her children. She loved Coca-Cola, swimming, skiing, visiting Hawaii, the smell of lilacs, listening to Rod Stewart, playing in the rain with her sons, and was obsessed with the color purple.
Debbie was unconditionally giving, loving, and nurturing. She loved helping people. Her loyalty to her family and friends meant everything to her. Her boys will always remember her for the magic she brought into their lives, and the adventures they went on together. For the unconditional support she gave. For teaching them how to love, how to forgive, be honest, kind, gracious, and tenacious in the pursuit of their lives. They send their mother "Double barrel kisses!" forever. We love you, Mom. We'll be the Three Musketeers forever.
