Derrine Schaar Obituary

Derrine D. Schaar

July 6, 1937 - April 10, 2025

Derrine D. Schaar, 87, of Davenport, died Thursday, April 10th, 2025, at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, Tech Drive, Bettendorf. Per her wishes, cremation rites were accorded. A celebration of her life will be held on Sunday, May 4, 2025, from 1 to 5 p.m. at the Davenport Elks Lodge. The Runge Mortuary assisted her family with arrangements. Online condolences may be left at www.therungemortuary.com. Memorials may be made to the Davenport Elks Lodge.

Derrine was born on July 6, 1937, in Davenport, the daughter of Reynold and Anita (Puls) Dietz. She was united in marriage to Herbert Schaar on January 10, 1959, in Davenport. Derrine worked and volunteered at several schools, including Monroe Elementary in Davenport. She was an ardent supporter of youth and school music and sports, and found great joy in attending those activities for her loved ones. She was a member of the Davenport Elks Lodge and the German American Heritage Center. Derrine loved sports and watched them whenever she could, preferring to watch any game of well-played ball over holding an allegiance for particular a team (though she did have a soft spot for Iowa State and the Cardinals).

Those left to honor her memory include her son, Scot (Karen) Schaar; granddaughter, Sydney (Torre) Gerritsen; step-granddaughter, Alissa (Kurt) Krambeck; great-grandson, Vaughn Gerritsen; step-great-grandchildren, Koen and Annika Krambeck; brother, Dale Dietz; and many special nieces and nephews.
