Donald Jasper Obituary

Donald J. Jasper

February 10, 1938 - August 28, 2025

Donald J. Jasper, 87, of Davenport, passed away August 28, 2025, surrounded by family at MercyOne Genesis, Davenport.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Patricia; and his children, Doug (Doreen), Michael (Jodette), Scott (Kate) and Ann (Todd). Don also leaves behind grandchildren, Paul, Patrick (Candela), Kalyn, Christopher (Jessica); and great-grandson, Jacob.

Preceding Don in death are his parents, Leroy and Dorothy Jasper; and sister, Carol Lee Markley.

Don received his B.A. from St. Ambrose College and was employed in sales in the trucking industry for more than three decades.

He was a caring and hardworking father. He and Pat provided for the family and created a safe and loving household. Don cared for his own parents, visiting them daily for their last eight years.

Don enjoyed taking care of his yard and the house that he and Pat built in 1967, and he was quick to help his adult children with their own yardwork. He loved golfing with friends, watching Jeopardy and the Marty Stuart Show on the farm channel. Mostly, though, Don loved socializing with friends and neighbors (and they seemed to love it back).

Visitation will be held Friday, November 7, 2025 from 4 to 6 p.m., at Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home, 614 Main Street, Davenport.

Additional visitation will be held Saturday, November 8, 2025 at 9 a.m. at St. Anthony Catholic Church, 417 N. Main Street, Davenport. This will be followed by a 10 a.m. memorial mass, also at St. Anthony Catholic Church. A graveside service will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.

There will be a luncheon on Saturday, November 8th, from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., at Biaggi's Ristorante Italiano, 5195 Utica Ridge Road, Davenport. Please attend to help us celebrate Don's life.

The family asks, in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made in Don's name to Hand In Hand, 3860 Middle Road, Bettendorf, Iowa 52722, or at https://secure.qgiv.com/for/hand-in-handiowa (select the "Dedicate this gift" box to memorialize Don's name).

The family would like to thank the following organizations and staff for their tremendous care and support of Don: MercyOne Genesis East; MercyOne Genesis West; Harmony Utica Ridge; The Quartet Senior Living; Silvercrest Garner Senior Living; Dr. Vinay Satti and staff; and, most recently, the Memory Care Unit staff at Davenport Lutheran Home.

I knew Don through work back in the 1980´s. Don was a sales rep for a local trucking company and I got to know him well. I always admired his cool and calm demeanor and the integrity that he displayed in doing business. My sincere condolences to the family. Don was a good man who will be missed by many. Rest in peace!
