Doris Martin Obituary
July 16, 1928 - November 3, 2024
Doris May Martin, 96, of Davenport, Iowa, passed away Sunday, November 3, 2024, at Genesis Health System- East. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, November 8, 2024 at Bentley Funeral Home, Wilton. Visitation will be held from 10:00 - 11:00 a.m., prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will take place in Oakdale Cemetery, Wilton. Memorials may be made to Christ Family Church, Davenport. Online condolences may be left at www.bentleyfuneralhome.com.
Dori was born on July 16, 1928, the daughter of Howard J. and Hallie (Gill) Lenker in Durant. She graduated from Wilton High School and married Ronald Martin on October 25, 1947 in Wilton. Ron passed away January 24, 2010.
Dori spent her years as a homemaker and brought joy to students and staff alike as she served lunch at Wood Junior High in Davenport. Her kindness and warm smile made a lasting impact on everyone she met. For over 32 years, Doris spent her winters at Superstition Lookout RV Resort in Apache Junction, Arizona, where she embraced every moment to its fullest, enjoying line dancing, quilting, and water aerobics. In 2023, her vibrant spirit was celebrated as she was crowned the Prom Queen of Superstition Lookout. She was a member of Christ Family Church in Davenport. She loved her yard, mowing her own grass until the age of 95. Dori also took great pride in being the oldest family member at the 109th Kaufmann family reunion, and dedicated countless hours to family genealogy.
Dori will be lovingly remembered by her two children, Dennis Martin of Silverton, Colorado and Susan (Scott) Wearn of Winston-Salem, North Carolina; five grandchildren: Jason Martin, Matt (Amanda) Martin, Alex (Sonia) Wearn, Caroline (Quin) Cogdell and Philip (Emily Berke) Wearn; nine great grandchildren: Austin and Albrie Martin, Elam and Jorun Martin, Ella and Luke Martin, Charlotte and Conrad Wearn, Virginia Cogdell, with two baby girls on the way; as well as one great-great grandson, due November; two sisters, Shelby Parks and Carol Kuehl; and one brother, Dwayne Lenker.
Dori was preceded in death by her husband, Ronald; an infant son, Alan Dale Martin; a daughter in-law, Sigrun "Sigi" Martin; three sisters, Dorothy Plett, Millie Gregory and Ruby Lenker; and two brothers in-law, Duane Parks and Les Kuehl.

To the Martin Family..
As members also of Christ’s Family Church, we had the privilege of sharing worship time with ‘Dori’ as she was able.. was not surprised to hear her tell of keeping her lawn cut and flowers growing! Her smile each Sunday as she greeted you was sunshine on a cloudy day. The students at Wood were blessed to have her sweet attention each day we are certain.. so very sorry for this loss in your lives.. Blessings!

Dori, was a great lady.... I never once heard her raise her voice or speak poorly of someone. She and Ron were always ready to lend a helping hand... She was the best at conversation and visiting. I loved spending time with her on my patio in AZ....Thanks for all the wonderful memories Dori! The Lord sent an angel and she has returned to HIM!!!!!

My heart and prayers go out to the entire family. I'm flooded with so many memories between her teaching me to crochet and spending time around the cabin to her staying with mom and I while the guys went hunting. I loved her laugh and her demeanor. Such a sweet woman. We will miss her so much but can only imagine how wonderful it is in Heaven for her to join Ron again ♡
