Dorothy Bockwoldt Obituary

Dorothy Bockwoldt

May 5, 1935 - November 22, 2025

Dorothy M. Bockwoldt age 90, of Dixon, Iowa, passed away Saturday, November 22, 2025 at her home. A visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m., Tuesday, November 25, 2025 at Bentley Funeral Home, Durant. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, November 26, 2025 at the funeral home. A private family burial will take place in Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Dixon American Legion or the Dixon Fire Department. Online condolences may be left www.bentleyfuneralhome.com.

Dorothy was born on May 5, 1935, the daughter of Waldo and Nora (Dierksen) Quistorf. She attended a one room school house, before attending Davenport High, graduating with the Class of 1953. Dorothy married Richard "Dick" Bockwoldt on June 1, 1957 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Davenport.

Dorothy lived a life rooted in kindness, hard work, and deep love for her family. In her early working years, she was employed at Cen-Pe-Co in Walcott. After welcoming children, she dedicated herself to her home as a devoted homemaker and farmer's wife. When her children were grown, Dorothy worked part-time at Montgomery Ward, volunteered with the Festival of Trees and was involved with the Deer Valley Collectors in Eldridge.

In her youth, Dorothy enjoyed playing 4-H softball, a pastime that reflected her energetic nature. Throughout her life, she continued to find joy in simple but meaningful hobbies. She loved working on jigsaw puzzles, attending tractor shows, gardening, tending to her flowers, camping at the Mt. Pleasant Threshers Reunion, and going out to lunch with her neighbors and cousins. Above all, Dorothy treasured her family. Being a mother was her greatest pride, and becoming a grandmother brought her tremendous joy. She adored her grandchildren and great grandchildren, cherishing every moment spent with them.

Dorothy will be dearly missed by her husband, Dick; two daughters, Debbie (Rocky) Crow of Davenport and Denise (Dan) Hedberg of Elkhorn, Neb.; four grandchildren, Matt (Leanna) Wilford, Kelli (Matt) Sanders, Megan (Nate) Cain and Molly (Pete) Johnson; fourteen great grandchildren, Jaxon, Kinnick and Brantley Wilford, Brody, Brinley and Brooklyn Sanders, Eli, Emma, and Toby Cain, Jacoby, Russell and Barrett Johnson, and Haley and Aliyah Petz; and two nephews, Randy (Becky) Goettsch and Scot (Tessa) Goettsch.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Janet (Bob) Goettsch; and one niece, Susie McKee.

So sorry to hear of Dorthy’s passing. She was always so pleasant! Haven’t seen you folks since the late 70’s early 80’s. I always enjoyed talking to you both. Living in New Hampton since middle 80’s and now retired. You have my sincere condolences.
