Francis William Bockenfeld was born on July 15, 1939 in Davenport, Iowa, a son of Louis and Cecelia (Mandel) Bockenfeld. He was united in marriage to Carolyn Smith. They later divorced. He was then united in marriage to Barbara Webb on September 22, 1990. She preceded him in death on May 10, 2024.
Frank was a veteran of the United States Navy. He then began his trade as a carpenter. Throughout his life he was a very good handyman and was always known to "Frankify" things to make them up to his standards. After a few years of carpentry work, he then began his career at Caterpillar for over 30 years and then went on to work at Jensens. He finally retired as a tool and dye maker at the age of 70. Frank enjoyed taking care of his home and his yard. He was known for his holiday decorations. Frank was a member of St. Andrew Catholic Church, where he enjoyed Fr. Bud's sermons that led to many spirited conversations with family. He was very devoted to his wife and enjoyed taking vacations to visit and spoil the grandchildren.
Those left to honor his memory include his daughter, Bonnie K. Wills; grandchildren, Tarrah (Jared) Beard, Selah (Satch) Baldwin and Elikah (Maximilliano Rodriguez) Wills; great-grandchildren, Hannah Beard, Colton Beard, Finley Rae Kelley, Micah Rodriguez, and one on the way, Genevieve; siblings, Delores Saling and Robert "Bob" Bockenfeld; and three nieces.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Barbara; son, Francis William "Skip" Bockenfeld, Jr.; and siblings, Louis "Bud" Bockenfeld, Mary Laugen and Richard "Dick" Bockenfeld. He has been united together again in glory with all who preceded him.
Bonnie would like to thank St. Croix Hospice for everything they did to make my dad's passing peaceful.
As the song goes by Frank Sinatra, "I Did It My Way", Frank Bockenfeld did just that.
