PRINCETON-Gary Baker, 69, of Princeton, Iowa passed away unexpectedly at his home on Monday, July 18, 2022. A visitation to celebrate his life will be held on Wednesday, July 27, 2022 from 3-7pm at Weerts Funeral Home. Memorials in Gary's name may be made to Kings Harvest Pet Rescue.
Gary was born on September 20, 1952 in Davenport, Iowa to Allen and Jaqueline Baker. He graduated from Davenport West where he excelled at Baseball and Football. Following high school, Gary pursued an electrician apprenticeship with the IBEW Local 145 and worked with multiple companies before ending his career with DECCO and proceeded to work for the City of Moline as the City's Traffic Operations Specialist until 2017 when he retired. He was united in marriage to Marlene Vogler on March 7, 1980. Gary was an animal lover and loved to spend time outdoors. He could often be found golfing, riding his motorcycle, mowing the lawn, or relaxing by the pool. He also enjoyed spending time out on the boat. Gary loved working on cars, both his personal cars and his stock cars. As his boys were growing, he would coach various youth sport teams in baseball, football, and wrestling. Gary loved to watch the Cubs, Bears, Hawkeyes and NASCAR. Spending time with family and friends was important to Gary and he loved making memories with his family.
Those left to honor his memory are his wife of 42 years, Marlene; three sons Jesse Baker, Clay (Christine) Baker, and Chad (Christine) Baker; granddaughter Dawson Baker; grandson Richard Baker; siblings Sherry Daurer, Lisa Diaz, Bruce Baker, and Shawn Baker; along with many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings Kathy, Jeff, Lance, Cindy, and an infant brother.
