Ione I. Nelson, 90, of Eldridge, IA, passed away on June 4, 2024, in her home.

Per her wishes, there will be no services or visitation. Mississippi Valley Cremation assisted the family with arrangement.

Ione Nelson was born December 10, 1933, in Maquoketa, IA, the youngest daughter of eleven children to Carl P. and Florence B. Frandsen. She was previously married to David A Nelson, Eldridge, IA, and remained close friends//companions until her passing. She was a hairdresser in Cedar Rapids, IA, and then worked for McCausland Rock Quarry weighing trucks and running the office for many years.

Ione will be deeply missed and was loved by her surviving daughters: Laurie A. Stichter of Eldridge, IA, Cindy M. Lay of Arnold, MO, Teresa E. (Chan) Karupiah of Athol, ID, and Barbara L. (Roger) Parmenter of Eldridge, IA. She was loved and laughed with her 19 grandchildren and 34 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brothers: Larry (Joyce) Frandsen of Dewitt, IA, and Arthur (Karen) Frandsen of Maquoketa, IA. Ione was preceded in death by her parents; and brothers: Paul, Roy and Harvey; and her sisters: Irene Kleinsmith, Ruby Voss, Velma Witt, Viola Frandsen and Laraine Frandsen.
