James L. "Jim" Kaucher

James L. "Jim" Kaucher, 78, of Blue Grass, died Wednesday, April 10, 2024, at Genesis East, Davenport.
Private family services will take place with burial in Oak View Cemetery, Welton, IA. Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.
Memorials may be made to the Blue Grass Fire Department.
James Louis Kaucher was born on May 24, 1945, in the family home in Buffalo, a son of George F. and Minnie (Boyer) Kaucher. He graduated from Bettendorf High School in 1963.
Jim was united in marriage to Virginia "Ginger" Boldt on August 7, 1965, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Davenport. She preceded him in death on June 24, 2018, following 52 years of marriage.
Jim retired from Ralston Purina following thirty-seven years of service. He later worked for Salzman International.
Jim loved to camp and fish, especially at Yellow River State Forest. He enjoyed an occasional cigar and Corvettes, owning a 1966 and 1985. Jim was a die-hard fan of the Atlanta Braves, even naming his black lab after Hall of Fame third baseman, Chipper Jones.
Those left to honor his memory are his children: Stephanie (Mike) Wise, Blue Grass, Tracy (Kevin) Rommel, Davenport, and James (Tracy) Kaucher, Littleton, Colorado; grandchildren: Thomas, Keaton, McKenna, Rylee, Sarah, and Noah; sisters: Pat Buffington, Judy Jewett, both of Buffalo, and Helen Kaucher, Davenport; a sister-in-law, Edna "Eddie" Tudehope, Sioux City, IA; and nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents; and siblings: Carleen Mead, George "Fritz" Kaucher, and Marie Derrickson. May they rest in peace.
The Kaucher family would like to thank the Blue Grass Fire Department for all they have done for Jim.
