James David Rutherford Sr.

DAVENPORT-James David Rutherford Sr., 65, of Davenport, passed away Tuesday, February 21, 2023 at Genesis East. A celebration of his life will be Friday, March 3, 2023 at 2 pm at The Runge Mortuary and Crematory. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service, at the mortuary. Jim was born January 16, 1958 in Davenport. He was the son of Earl and June (Strohmeier) Rutherford. He served in the Air Force and later served in the Army National Guard.
He retired after nearly 30 years from the Rock Island Arsenal in 2011. He lived on his farm and enjoyed farming, mowing the yard and was known for his infamous bonfires. He also enjoyed traveling, fishing, riding his motorcycle, target shooting and hunting.
Those celebrating his life include his son, James "JD" and wife, Kayla, Bennett, IA; grandchildren: Aiden and Boston Weimerskirch, sister Ann (Dale) Schutt, Rockport, TX and their two sons, Randy and Terry (Angie) Schutt of the Minneapolis/St. Paul area. His parents preceded him in death.

RIP Jim. We ran our mini bikes all over the farms and roads as kids ice skated, fishing and just a great time growing up together as friends with our childhood farms next to each other.
