DAVENPORT-Jean L. Clapp, 97, of Davenport, passed away Wednesday, September 16, 2020 in Davenport. A private celebration of her life will take place.
Her final resting place is in the Rock Island Arsenal Cemetery. Memorials can be made to Edward Congregational Church in Davenport. Online condolences may be left at rungemortuary.com
Jean was born in Davenport on September 28, 1922. She was the daughter of Roy L. and Alice (McCullough) Pyle. She married Dr. Frederick W. Clapp on May 10, 1947 in Davenport. He preceded her in death on July 8, 2010. Jean thoroughly enjoyed living with her friends at Bickford Cottage. She was the life of the party and kept everyone laughing with her sense of humor. She loved playing bridge, cribbage and backgammon and was a very talented artist. She was a member of Edwards Congregational Church in Davenport and an active member of King's Daughters.
Those left to celebrate her life include her children: Marilyn McCall, Traverse City, MI, Beverly Strayhall, Bettendorf and Jim Clapp, Davenport, grandchildren: Jason Scheda, Jennifer (Derek) Dall'Olmo, Stephanie Millage, Sara (Andy) Truitt, Nichole (Andy) Schroer and Eric (Allison) Clapp; nine great grandchildren and a sister, Lois Postel, Sanford, FL. In addition to her parents and husband, Jean was preceded in death by: sisters, Elizabeth Lagoni and Joyce Biederstedt and a daughter-in-law, Cheryl Clapp.
