Joan (Jody) Pike Hawley

BETTENDORF-Joan (Jody) Pike Hawley of Bettendorf, passed away on July 13, 2022.
Jody was born in Manchester, New Hampshire on February 14th, 1934. She graduated from Emerson College in Boston, Massachusetts with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Speech. She married Oscar Hawley on June 10, 1961. Jody taught Speech and Drama at House in the Pines in Wheaton, Massachusetts, directed plays for the Lexington Children's Theater in Lexington, Kentucky, and also taught and directed theater at The Lexington School. For twenty years she served on the board of the Scott County Iowa Area Education Agency.
Jody had a passion for cooking, travel, theater, and rights for people with intellectual and physical disabilities.
Jody is survived by her husband, Oscar; son, Peter; and daughter, Mary Elisabeth.
Celebration of Life services will be held on Friday October 14th at 10AM at the Bettendorf Presbyterian Church, 1200 Middle Road in Bettendorf. Burial will be in the National Cemetery, Rock Island Arsenal. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to The Handicapped Development Center in Davenport and The Special Olympics of Iowa.
