JoAnn Torpey Obituary

JoAnn Torpey

March 2, 1943 - November 4, 2023

JoAnn Torpey, nee Bartosch, formerly of Davenport, IA, passed away in Austin, TX, on November 4, 2023.

JoAnn had made her home in Austin, TX, and had a career in banking and real estate. Recently, she had been spending time between her children's homes in Texas and New York. She loved to travel and just last year was invited to the White House's East Wing and West Wing which was a highlight for her 80th birthday.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Larry Torpey, of 60 years marriage. Surviving family members include a daughter, Heidi, son-in-law, Brendan Condon, and two granddaughters: Adare and Dracy; a son, Jay Torpey, daughter-in-law, Trish, and daughters: Kelly and Grace. In addition, her sister, Mary Lemen precedes her in death; and she is survived by three sisters: Inga Wagner, Kris Canfield, and Gretchen Flynn.

Family was always important to JoAnn, and she loved to talk about each and every member of the family fondly which included cousins, in-laws, nieces and nephews, as well as including her friends as family. She loved to cook, and it was her way of showing her love for family and friends.

JoAnn and Larry are peacefully interred at Remembrance Gardens at the Riverbend Church in Austin, TX. A celebration of life was held on January 6, 2024, at friend's ranch in Dripping Springs, TX.
