Judith Ann Peckenschneider was born on February 6, 1941, to Melvin and Hilda (Ehlers) Peckenschneider in Davenport, IA. Judy graduated from Durant High School in 1959, then went to work at First Trust and Savings Bank for many years. Before retiring she loved managing a Kwik Shop, where she was known as "Mama Z" to many people, especially a lot of UPS drivers who would frequent her store.

In 1961, she married John "Jack" Zindel. Although they later divorced, they remained friends until his passing in 1996.

In earlier years, she enjoyed bowling, puzzles, game shows, spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren, and being a member of Durant high School "59ers" Club.

Judy is survived by her sons: Lee (Kelly), Steve (Valerie) and Scott (Stacey); daughter, Jodi (Ken) Heaton; grandchildren, Brandon (Tasha), Tony (Michelle), Shai, Holly, and Stephanie (Kristopher) Knutson; great-grandchildren: Carsen, Connor, Autumn, Kennedy, Leona, Rilee Jo, Libby Grace, and Charlie; and brother, Denny Peckenschneider.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and a brother, Melvin, Jr.

Mom would like to thank Terry Tank for all of his help and support and her breakfasts with cousin, Mike.

I don't think I have known anyone nicer than Judy! Lots of wonderful memories hanging with her kids when we were elementary age. All have grown to be such wonderful, caring and nice individuals which I know Judy was very, very proud of. She knew how blessed she was with her kids, their spouses, grandkids, and great grandkids. She knew how to accept people. She knew how to let people know that she loved them. She remembered you, kept in touch with you as much as she could, because she wanted to. My memory of Judy was a tough lady on the outside while raising her kids, while staying loving and genuine. One couldn't help but to love to be in her presence and cherish the times they were. Thanks, Judy, for the memories! Sympathy to all of Judy's Family and Friends.
