Larry R. Fox, 86, a resident of Bettendorf, Iowa, and formerly of Kirksville, Missouri, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, October 8, 2025. He passed at the Kahl Home in Davenport, surrounded by family.
In accordance with his wishes, Larry's body was donated to the University of Iowa for medical study and research. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Willmathsville Church Cemetery in Willmathsville, Missouri. McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home of Bettendorf is assisting the family with arrangements.
Larry was born in Kirksville on February 5, 1939, the son of Charley P. "Hoppy" and Ethel Lillian (Lockhart) Fox. On November 16, 1957, he was united in marriage to Frances Catherine Rummerfield in Kirksville. They shared 58 years of marriage before her passing on April 24, 2016.
Larry worked as a press operator for Hollister, Inc. in Kirksville, where he dedicated 30 years of faithful service before retiring in 2001. Earlier in life, he was employed by McGraw-Edison in Kirksville. After retirement, he enjoyed working part-time in auto transport for several dealerships in and around Kirksville, where he could stay connected to his lifelong love of cars.
He was a former member of Calvary Temple and Decker Chapel, and more recently attended River Church in Clinton, Iowa. He also previously held membership in the Kirksville Moose Lodge.
Larry enjoyed cars, collecting guns, country music, taking walks, and making people smile. What he most loved was his family and his relationship with Jesus, both of which were by his side when he passed. Larry's ultimate desire was that everyone would come to know and love his Lord and Savior. He will be remembered for his love, kindness, humor, and giving heart.
Those left to honor his memory include his daughters, LaDonna (Danny) Williams of Kirksville and Sharla (Donnie) Jones of LeClaire, Iowa; his sons, Roger Fox of Kirksville and Larry (Chrystal) Fox of Kirksville; eleven grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren; five sisters-in-law, Betty Fox, Donna Puffinbarger, Doris Smith, Dorthy Fullmer, all from Kirksville, and Vicky Rummerfield of Jefferson City, MO; many nieces and nephews; and his brother, Clarence "Hank" (Jongsun) Fox of San Antonio, Texas.
