Larry Wakeland Obituary
April 16, 1950 - June 27, 2025
Larry D. Wakeland, 75, of Blue Grass, Iowa, passed away at his home on Friday, June 27th, 2025, surrounded by family. The funeral will be on Tuesday, July 8th, 2025, at 12:00 p.m. at The Runge Mortuary and Crematory Chapel. A visitation will be held in the evening prior Monday July 8, 2025, from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. He will be laid to rest at Davenport Memorial Park.
Larry was born on April 16, 1950, to Loren and Geraldine (Grimes) Wakeland in Clinton, Iowa. He attended Davenport High School. Larry was dedicated and hardworking, spending over 30 years as the general manager for ABC Supply Co. On August 10, 1974, he was united in marriage with Debra Jo Pieper in Rock Island, Illinois.
Larry loved his family. He was a devoted husband to Debra for 50 years; together they were dedicated to their children and grandchildren, and the two of them took many special trips together. He took special pride in his grandchildren, who all shared a special bond with him. Larry was known for being a good and true friend; he was loved by everyone who knew him. Larry enjoyed the Three Stooges, rides on his gator, and loved to play golf in his younger years.
Those left to honor his memory include his son, Jason Wakeland, Blue Grass, Iowa; daughters Jaime (Ryan) Iossi, Eldridge, Iowa; Jenessa (Nicholas) Westerfield, Blue Grass, Iowa; JoAnna (Sean) Kindig, Blue Grass, Iowa; grandchildren Chelsea, Josie, Alexander, Zachary, Madelyn, Jacob (Megan), Mya, Ashton, Lauren, and Ethan; great-grandchildren Ryker, Juniper, Jackson and Maggie; brother David; sisters Nancy and Karen; lifelong friend Ricky D.; and his puppies Bella and Luna.
He is preceded in death by his loving wife, Debra, parents Loren and Geraldine, sister Cindy and brother Mark.
