Marilyn Engler Obituary

Marilyn K. Engler

June 24, 1951 - October 31, 2025

Marilyn K. Engler, 74, of Davenport, passed away peacefully in her home on October 31, 2025, surrounded by her loving family, following a courageous battle with melanoma.

A private Catholic funeral and mass for Marilyn will be held at Our Lady of Victory followed by the burial at Maysville Cemetery. The family will hold a celebration of Marilyn's life in the summer of 2026. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the American Cancer Society's Melanoma Research Foundation.

Born on June 24, 1951, in Davenport, Iowa, Marilyn Kay Feldpausch was the daughter of Francis "Shorty" Feldpausch and Leona (Kahler) Feldpausch. She graduated from North Scott High School, Class of 1969.

On July 9, 1971, Marilyn married her high school sweetheart, David R. Engler, at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church. Together they shared over 54 years of marriage with their four children and five beautiful grandchildren.

Marilyn dedicated 49 years to her career in dental and orthodontic laboratories, most recently at Davenport Orthodontics, retiring in May 2025. For over a decade she volunteered with Healing the Children, a reflection of her generous heart and lifelong commitment to helping others.

Family was the heart of Marilyn's world and she enjoyed sharing her many interests with those she loved most. An enthusiastic horse lover, she enjoyed going on trail rides with her husband and children. Marilyn was an accomplished seamstress creating countless costumes and clothes for her loved ones. She also found great pleasure in books and was an avid reader.

Marilyn is survived by her husband, David Engler, Davenport; her children, Trent (Amanda) Engler of Wakefield, Mass., Jerod (Trinity) Engler of Fort Myers, Fla., Leah (Philipp Schindler) Engler of Berlin, Germany, and Jade Engler of Eldridge; her grandchildren, Molly Engler, Lucy Engler, Naomi Schindler, Elio Schindler, and Jameson Ball; and her sister, Janice (Roger) Bousselot.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Francis and Leona, her brother, Harold Feldpausch, and sisters, Betty Bousselot and Delores DePooter.

Yesterday

Dave, so sad to read about Marilyn. We were neighbors for many years and played together almost daily before our lives went on different directions in high school. Marilyn was a lovely person. I have great memories of our times together when we were younger. God´s love and peace provide you and your family with comfort in her passing.
