Melba D. Jordan, 89 of Davenport, Iowa, formerly of Alpha, IL died Sunday, November 14, 2021 at Crest Health Center, Ridgecrest Village in Davenport, Iowa. Services are 10:00 a.m. Thursday, November 18, 2021 at the Alpha United Methodist Church. Burial is in the National Cemetery, Arsenal Island, Rock Island. Visitation is 4-7 p.m. Wednesday at Peterson-Wallin-Knox Funeral Home in Alpha where memorials may be left to the Alpha United Methodist Church, Oxford American Legion Post #1197 or Ridgecrest Foundation. She was born May 6, 1932 in Pike County, Illinois to Ernest and Delite Stauffer Baird. She attended Barry, Illinois schools, graduated from Orion High School and attended Western Illinois University. Melba was united in marriage to Basil Jordan May 17, 1953 in Alpha, IL. He died August 5, 2018.
Melba was employed at the Rock Island Arsenal for 25 years and retired in 1991.
She was a member of the Alpha United Methodist Church and the Oxford American Legion Auxiliary Post 1197.
Melba enjoyed playing euchre, camping and traveling. She loved wintering in Texas and social gatherings with her friends and family.
Survivors include two daughters, Vicki (Jim) Geiger of Donna, TX; Randi (Pat) Creedon of Colorado Springs, CO; two sons, Craig (Kathy Frugé) Jordan of Boerne, TX; Kurt (Cathy) Jordan of Alpha, IL; 7 grandchildren: Lindsey (Brooks) Friederich, Chelsey (Tim) Taggart, Rachel Jordan, Rebekah (Rachel) Jordan, John Jordan, Seth and Trace Thompson; three great grandchildren, Aidan Jordan and Hannah and Jordan Friederich; several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband and four siblings.

I am very saddened that Melba is no longer with us, but grateful to also know she is no longer in pain. She was a beautiful lady with a beautiful smile. I appreciated her sense of humor. Deepest sympathy to her family.
