Nancy Odean Obituary

Nancy Lee Odean

September 22, 1952 - April 2, 2025

Nancy Lee Odean, 72, of Rock Island, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 2, 2025, at Silver Cross Friendship Manor following a courageous battle with cancer. Per her request, cremation rites have been accorded; there will be a memorial visitation on Thursday, April 10, 2025 from 10:00 - 11:00 AM at Weerts Funeral Home. Inurnment will be at Davenport Memorial Park at a later date. Nancy was born on September 22, 1952 in Davenport Iowa to Kenneth and Mary Schnoor. She graduated from Davenport West High School in 1970. After attending Truman State University, she enlisted in the U.S. Navy and lived in San Diego California for several years. Upon completing her service, she returned to Davenport and earned her Bachelor's Degree in Business and Accounting and later achieved her MBA from St. Ambrose University. She was employed at Iowa Bearing, Marycrest College as the Comptroller, George Evans Corporation, and later retired from the Army Sustainment Command Small Business Office in 2018 after 20 years of service with the Federal Government. She was united in marriage to W. Reid Odean on November 7, 2015 and moved to Rock Island.

Nancy fought her battle with cancer with unwavering courage for over two years. Despite spending much of that time in treatment, she never complained and never lost her ability to laugh. She cherished her time with her family and the special bond she had with her nieces. Throughout her entire journey, Nancy remained steadfast and showed remarkable strength. Her ability to persevere, even with such a severe health condition, was a testament to her inner strength and unyielding spirit. Nancy's gift for listening, her sense of humor, and her kindness will be greatly missed.

Those left to honor her memory are her husband of 10 years, Reid; siblings Kathleen (Jeff) Ward, James Schnoor; nieces Kelsey Lighton, Rebecca (Zack) Bruce, Kelly (Cory) Shook; and nephew Patrick Schnoor; grandnieces Olivia Lighton, Addison and Lilly Shook; and grandnephews Oliver and Noah Bruce. She was preceded in death by her parents Kenneth and Mary and sister-in-law Pam Schnoor.
