Nancy Sproul Obituary

As per Nancy's wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral services.

Nancy was born December 13, 1934 in Moline, Ill., the daughter of Peter and Sophia Wallick. She graduated from Moline High School and attended Black Hawk College.

She met her husband Don on a blind date. They fell in love immediately. He was the love of her life after dating so many others. They shared 63 years together until his passing in August 2021. They had two children, Betsy Sproul (Chicago) and Pete (Beth) Sproul (Louisville). Three grandchildren included Robert, James and Peter Jr.

Nancy worked for the East Moline School District 30 as Food Service Director. Her love of children allowed her to spend much time with students in the district. Nancy and Don were a great twosome. Don was always pleased with whatever she did to plan a party. Her children and grandchildren were the greatest things since chocolate milk. She loved to buy them gifts. Her great love was to entertain, which included homemade cooking. Her theme parties were ones everyone would enjoy. At Christmas time she would bake fourteen kinds of cookies and ten kinds of candy. She was an avid bridge player and participated in many bridge groups. Her stylish clothes and jewelry to match every outfit was also a hobby as well as the hunt for the perfect items. Nancy loved to tell jokes and her humor and wit truly came thru. Nancy had many friends she loved dearly and kept in close contact with them, taking interest in the individual and their families. She loved the Chicago Cubs! Don took her to Spring Training for her 80th Birthday. They met many players. She and Don appeared in a national magazine after the Cubs won the World Series. This photo also found its way to Gallagher Way on a large marquis, which was a huge thrill. Her Cubs Christmas tree would also remain up until the next season as she had thoughts of them winning the next World Series. Nancy and Don wintered in Texas for 10 years. Nancy was the Social Director where they stayed and had something planned daily. After Texas, they spent the next eight years in sunny Florida. Their home was a welcome place for everyone! Nancy's ashes will be buried next to Don on Arsenal Island in the Spring.
