Nancy was born January 1, 1939; the first baby born in Muscatine that year to Alfred and Myrtle (Snider) Hecht. She graduated from Muscatine High School in 1957, attended Muscatine Community College and graduated from Moline Public School of Nursing in 1961.

She began her 40-year career in the medical field at the age of 14 at Hershey Hospital and continued after graduation as a Registered Nurse at Muscatine General Hospital. A devoted nurse, Nancy spent her entire life caring for others. Whether at the bedside, in the community, or at home, she always had time for those who needed care. Her patients were never just cases to her; they were human beings deserving of dignity, kindness and hope. Nursing was not just her profession; it was her calling. She proudly remained close with all of her nursing classmates and coworkers throughout her life.

Nancy married Jerry B. Strajack on November 4, 1961, at St Mathias Catholic Church in Muscatine. They celebrated 59 years of marriage prior to his passing in 2021.

She was active in Ss. Mary Mathias Catholic Church, serving on the parish council and making baptismal cloths. She enjoyed knitting, arts and crafts and bird watching, but most importantly, spending time with her family.

Those left to honor her memory are her sons, Michael (Leslie) Strajack, Bettendorf, and Mark (Rhonda) Strajack, Muscatine, Matthew (Jody) Strajack, Davenport; grandchildren, Austin (Sabrina) Strajack, Collin Strajack, Abbey Strajack, Sam (Grace) Strajack, Alex Strajack, Anna Strajack, Emma Strajack; one great-grandchild, Bradford Strajack and one due in May 2026; sister-in-law, Janet Hecht; nieces and nephews Bryan (Dori) Hecht, Beth (Joe) VanZandt, Mary (Jeff) Corman and Shari (Ron) Behymer.

Nancy was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry; parents; brother, Don Hecht; sister-in-law, Judy DeLong; brother-in-law, Ron Huber; and nephew, Chris Huber.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Michael Porubcin and the nursing staff at MercyOne Genesis Davenport Cancer Center and the entire staff at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House for the excellent care and compassion they provided.

My condolences to the Strajack family. I really did not know Mrs. Strajack, but would hear stories from her son, Mark, as we briefly worked together for the same company.
