Patty Wells-Humphrey

January 11, 1942-January 8, 2021

Patty Wells-Humphrey was born January 11, 1942 to Herschel and Grace (Taylor) Quinn in Moberly, MO. Later in life, the Quinn family relocated to Des Moines, IA where Patty attended East High School. Patty then moved to Davenport, IA in 1966.

Patty was employed with the Davenport School System as a Para-Educator and worked intermittently for the Eastside Development Center for approximately 15 years. She then transitioned to the Davenhill Senior Living Center working as a Dietician. Later in life Patty Jo joined Gospel Mission Temple and dedicated the rest of her life to caring for her children and grandchildren.

Patty loved animals, fishing, watching television and babysitting. She was known for helping others in the community and did not have any respect a person. She found solace in spending time with her family. Patty will always be remembered for her passion for people and her endless love for her family.

January 8, 2021, Patty transitioned from time to eternity and is survived by her children: Royal (Margaret "Kim") Wells, Weena (Dennis) Gibbs, Anita Wells, Alfred Gatewood, Joan Thomas, Chontea (Julian) Young and step daughter Missy (Steve) Lisle; siblings: Zella Williams and Allene Meadors as well as a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Patty was preceded in death by her parents, Herschel and Grace Quinn; siblings, Raydell Quinn, William Quinn, Nathaniel Quinn, Dora Mae James, Mary Frances DeVan, Joan Quinn, and John W. Quinn; and son, Elmer Wells.

I am blessed to love and be loved by my Aunt Patty Jo; The most wonderful person I have ever known; to be showered by her hugs and kisses all my life was amazing, I never took one moment for granted, because I always remained aware that time is fleeting! I thank you God for the blessed gift of her presence in my life, I will Carey her beautiful memories the rest of my life. My continued prayers of comfort and strength go out to all of her children.

Ms. Patty Joe is what the young people on the eastside of town called your dear mother. She helped everyone she could and always reached out to those in need. She always had a beautiful smile for "her children" as she called them. What a beautiful lady and faithful worker to better the neighborhood and the lives of those who lived there. Ms. Patty Joe remembered my face and my name when she became a member of Gospel Mission Temple. What a joy it was to share the love of Jesus with Ms. Patty Joe. To God be the glory for sharing this special lady with us.
