Robert Gimm Obituary

Robert (Bob) Gimm

July 16, 1931-March 20, 2023

LECLAIRE-Robert (Bob) Gimm, 91, of LeClaire, Iowa passed away on March 20th, 2023.

He was born in Durant Iowa on July 16th, 1931, the son of Anna (Huettman) and Frank Gimm.

Bob married Rose Randolph on Sept. 8th, 1956 in Riverdale, Iowa. They had 6 children: Bobby Gimm of LeClaire, Donna (Craig) Mock of Bettendorf, Dawn Gimm of Bettendorf, Michael (Lisa) Gimm of Davenport, Rosa Ward-Gimm of LeClaire, and Cathy (Gary) Mundt of Colorado. Grandchildren: Eric and Kyle Mock, Kaitlin Gimm, Kelsey Ward, Cole Teshak, and Lydia Mundt.

Bob was in the Navy during the Korean War. He started at Alcoa in 1956, and retired in 1994 with 25 years in truck repair. He was an avid reader, and loved a good Louis L'Amour book. Bob had perfected the art of bread making, which he did every week to the delight of this family and neighbors. If you ever wanted to find Bob, you wouldn't have to look far. His favorite place was in his garage tinkering with something, or helping his kids and grandchildren work on their cars. He enjoyed traveling to bluegrass festivals with his wife Rose of 66 years on their ride of choice - their 1980 Honda Goldwing. Bob would regularly volunteer his time, skills, and resources to better the people of his community. He was always going above and beyond for those in need. If you ever needed help, Bob was there.

Preceded in death by: His wife Rose, his parents Frank and Anna, his brother Leo and wife Phyllis, and his sister Joy and husband Dave Morrow.

A private celebration of life will be held at a later date for family.
