Ronda Lynne Aschemann
January 25, 1949 - August 6, 2025
Ronda Lynne Aschemann, 76, of Mesa, AZ, passed away peacefully in the early morning of August 6, 2025, at Banner Heart Hospital due to pulmonary failure following a rapid health decline and a heart attack. Her warm spirit and boundless love touched countless lives, leaving a legacy of kindness and community.
Born on January 25, 1949, in Ottumwa, IA, to Keith and Darlene June Queck, Ronda moved to Rock Island, IL, as a young child. She grew up there, attending Rock Island High School and embracing her passion for tennis, a sport she played avidly in her youth. Ronda's love for tennis continued throughout her life, as she faithfully followed Wimbledon, the US Open, French Open, and Australian Open on television.
Ronda's career was marked by dedication and service. She began working as a clerk at the USPS before spending 35 years as a real estate paralegal at Eagle and Eagle Attorneys in Rock Island. Her enthusiasm for connecting with people had shone through in her part-time role at Requet's Restaurant (formerly Italian Village), where her gift for conversation made every stranger feel like a friend.
A devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and community member, Ronda was a past-president of the PTA at Audubon Elementary School and a Girl Scout leader, where she joyfully managed troop cookie sales and enjoyed mentoring young girls as the troop leader. She was a fixture at her son's baseball, football, and basketball games, cheering from the sidelines with unwavering support. A lifelong Chicago Cubs fan, Ronda enjoyed watching the Cubs on television and cherished trips to Wrigley Field, where she rooted for her favorite player, Ryne Sandberg. She played in a bowling league at Town and Country Lanes when her children were younger and her bowling team name was "Thursday Night Leftovers." Family gatherings were filled with laughter, card games, and her love for bingo, which brought everyone together.
Ronda's faith was a cornerstone of her life. As a long-time member of St. Pius X Catholic Church in Rock Island, she was actively involved before relocating to Mesa, AZ, in 2013 to fulfill her dream of retirement. In Mesa, she became a cherished member of the Sunrise Village community, known for her generous and giving spirit, always ready to lend a hand.
Ronda is survived by her loving husband of 42 years, Stanley Aschemann of Mesa, AZ; her daughters, Amanda Shalitis (Scott) of Mesa, AZ, and Lisa Russ (Jeffrey) of Rapid City, SD; her son, Brian Nikulski (Gail) of Bettendorf, IA; her stepchildren, Ryan Aschemann (Becky) of Rock Island, IL, Karen Noble (Curt) of Daphne, AL, John Nikulski (Sokie) of Lebanon, IN, and Ron Nikulski (Christel) of Calhan, CO; and her sister, Karen Stonestreet (Frank) of Moline, IL. She was blessed with a large number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren who she dearly loved.
She was predeceased by her parents, Keith and Darlene June Queck; her brother, Larry Queck; her sister, Connie Long; her stepson, Shawn Aschemann; and her two prior husbands, Christopher Hoy and Stanley Nikulski.
