Virginia Randone Obituary

Virginia H. Randone (Marks)

Nov. 21, 1930-Sept. 23, 2023

Virginia H. Randone (Marks), 92 of Davenport passed away peacefully at her home on Saturday September 23rd, 2023, with her five children by her side, and a house full of family, the way she always liked it. Private family services will be held at Halligan McCabe Devries Funeral Home with burial at RI Arsenal alongside her husband at a later date.

Virginia "Ginni" Marks was born on November 21, 1930 to Joseph and Catherine (Benedict) Marks in Elgin, IL. Ginni grew up in Clinton, IA and it was there that she met the love of her life, Arnold (Arn) Randone. During their 70 years of marriage, they were devoted to each other and their five children. They developed a circle of extended family and friends including many "adopted" kids through the years.

Ginni was a homemaker and caregiver to many of her grandchildren during their younger years. Ginni's home, children, and great-grandchildren who knew her as Granny, were her greatest joy. Many special memories were made sitting around the kitchen table conversing and telling stories. Ginni met many a friend through her years of volunteer work, part-time jobs and various other outings; if you were one of those lucky ones you became like family. In earlier years, she and Arn enjoyed traveling, canning their vegetables, and cooking.

Virginia was preceded in death by her loving husband, parents, and sisters Dorie and Mary Anne. Her memory will live on in her only brother Josh (Jeanine) Marks and her loving children Suzi Stahr, (Denver, CO), Becky (Philippe) Henley (Eldridge, IA), Michael (Terrie) Randone, Lisa (Eric) Baldwin, and Karen (Joel) Slaby (Davenport, IA), 16 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Ginni is also survived by her devoted and loving caregivers, Kiara, who spent 1 ½ years with her "Ginni girl" and Betty who cared for mom the last six months.

Our mom was under the loving care of Compassus Hospice, specifically Kristina, Bridget, and Brittany. We are forever grateful for their tireless dedication, wonderful care and love for our mom.

We love you more, Mom.

We are so truly sorry to hear about your mom. She was a mom to all of us. Her door was always open, her sense of humor always in tact, and her heart as big as the moon. She was very loved and will truly be missed. Heaven has gained a beautiful soul! May she rest in peace, and may you always be comforted by your memories of her sweet smile and her loving ways. God Bless!

Ginni and Randy were our wonderful next door neighbors for more than 20 years. They became a third set of grandparents to our 3 girls. The world has lost another special person. Our love to all the family.

Randone Family...
My heart goes out to you all at this sad time.
Ginny was a wonderful person who was loved by many. I first met her over 40 years ago when I was working at Walgreens. She will be missed by many. Thank you Ginny for all the years!!
