Myrna Jonson Obituary

Myrna Jean Jonson Myrna Jean Jonson, 80, of Littlefork, passed away Saturday, December 31, 2022, at the Good Samaritan Society, International Falls surrounded by family. Myrna was born October 6, 1942, in Littlefork to Walter and Emma Victoria "Vicki" (Lath) Groskreutz. It was there that she grew up, attended Littlefork Schools, and graduated in 1960. Myrna was united in marriage to James (Jim) Jonson on May 27, 1961 at the Littlefork Lutheran Church. They resided on County Road 79, Littlefork where they rented a home from Gene Vesey then moved to Jameson Township for a brief time, and later purchased the Vesey property. This is where they built their home, raised their family, owned and operated Jonson logging and farming. Myrna fulfilled many roles in the businesses. She was a lifelong member of the Littlefork Lutheran Church and Quilters. She was a proud lifetime member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary. She loved quilting, knitting, crocheting, scrapbooking, and card stamping. She enjoyed spending time traveling with Jim - weekend trips to the lake, several summer trips to Fairbanks, Alaska and winter trips to Mesquite, NV. She loved spending time with their children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Myrna was preceded in death by her husband, Jim, sister, Yvonne Rasmussen, infant sister, Darlene Groskreutz, brother, Larry Groskreutz, parents, Walter and Vicki Groskreutz. She is survived by her children, Bonnie (Darrell) Kennedy, Debbie Jonson, Duane (Amy) Jonson; five grandchildren, Craig Kennedy, Richie (Christine) Kennedy, Ann (James) Lawson, Preston (Amy) Kennedy, and John (Miranda) Kennedy; six great grandchildren, Cooper, Kloey, Ahna, Asher, Jack and Ansel, and numerous nieces and nephews. Cremation by Green-Larsen Mortuary, Inc., International Falls. Condolences may be left at www.green-larsen.com. The family of Myrna Jonson invites you to share in a celebration honoring her life at 10 a.m. Tuesday, January 10th, at Littlefork Lutheran Church. Burial will be at Riverview Cemetery in Reedy Township at a later date. Due to allergies and fragrance sensitivities, in lieu of flowers the family requests memorials to Littlefork Lutheran Church or organization of your choice, and if attending the celebration of life please be mindful to not wear scented lotions and perfumes.
