Laurie, I'm saddened by the news of Bill's passing. My prayers for you and your family. We lost track of each other about 12 years ago mostly to me selling my business & moving. When I got a new cell phone His phone # was lost and I've searched the internet the past decade but couldn't find him... until now :(
My memorable moment of Bill was talking at church together and deciding to put together a basketball team from the church in a rec league. He indicated he was a pretty good basketball player. Our first time on the court together he's standing at the free throw line to start warmups and he takes off his glasses and squints at the rim...and his first shot at the basket and he barely hit the rim, and my mind said, "oh my, I think I made a mistake getting him on the team". For the next 10-12+ years we played together in leagues. and Laurie was there for many games and our No. 1 cheerleader! And many times, we would go to the courts for pickup games 3 on 3 and you stay on the court until you lose... Bill & I would pick up someone we didn't know and stay on the court 2 hours never losing...
Not only was he a great basketball player and teammate, but he was also a true friend...We spent more time having a soft drink and talking basketball, God, family and life... I miss my friend.

I knew Bill (wild Bill) from lifeguarding in the 80's he was in love with Laurie from the day they met at the pool. We always teased him about her being out of his league. He was such a funny happy upbeat friend. Always teasing us. I remember going canoeing in Mission Bay as a group and laughing so hard we joked people would think we were all drunk. But none of us drank. So we talked about that too. I just saw this and know his family must miss him. He was one of a kind. And wow. Laurie. 3 boys. If they were anything like their dad you had your hands full .Tori.

Laurie and family,
I am so sorry to learn about the passing of Bill. I did not know until right now that he had passed. I tried calling his cell today and it said it had been disconnected. Please call me when you feel up to it. I would love to talk to you and see if there is anything I can do to help you and your kids.

Bill was on my crew many times. He was a pleasure to work with. He always did a great job scanning tickets and greeting the fans when they entered. He was always smiling and upbeat. He will be truly missed. My condolences to all his family and friends.

Dear Laurie and family. My thoughts and prayers are with you. To have lostsuch a kind and caring man is a big loss. I only had the pleasure of meeting him once at the amazing team dinner he cooked for the football team. It was obvious how much he enjoyed doing things for others.

Sorry for your loss. I remember Bill poolside at many Ramona High School events. He was a strong supporter of water sports.

I had the honor of knowing Wild Bill through his presence in Balboa Park. He would bring groups of children to my studio where I would demonstrate polymer clay for the kids. He encouraged me to get support and funding to include hands on art for the kids in the Balboa Park Program. Without his nudging it might not have happened. Wild Bill really cared about the children in his care and was so enthusiastic that it was contagious. By example he taught the children about being polite and kind and patient.
The world is a better place for having him in it!!
