Gail Lloyd Flesjer died peacefully at home on Thursday, October 30, 2025 from natural causes. His cremated remains will be scattered privately by his family at a later date. A public memorial service will not be held. Silha Funeral Home of Glendive has been entrusted with local arrangements.
Gail Lloyd Flesjer was born on August 20, 1948 in Glasgow, Montana. He was raised on the family homestead in Tampico, Montana, later moving into town where he graduated high school in 1967. He met Edina Thogersen on a blind date in Glendive, MT at the county fair in 1974 and they married in Sidney, Montana on June 26, 1976. They lived in Glasgow where he worked for Valley County as an equipment operator. In 1981, after having their daughters Taryn and Darci, the family moved to Glendive, where Gail worked for the City of Glendive until he retired in 2013. Gail drove garbage truck on the south side of town for 25 years, also serving on the Glendive Recycling Board for several years. Gail loved watching and helping coach his daughters in softball, and still talked about those fun times years later. Gail had a hard time sitting still and loved to work in his home business, Flesjer's Glass and Screen Repair, do yard work for their neighbors, play frisbee golf with the family, walking his dogs and completing projects around the house. He liked taking drives in the country and reminiscing about his time spent on friends and family farms and ranches.
In 2006, after he became a grandpa, you would see Gail at all his granddaughters' events., watching dance, choir, school concerts, basketball, volleyball, and his favorite, softball games. Gail and Edina were also proud supporters of the DCHS and DCC sports teams, and would often go to the games.
Gail is survived by his wife, Edina (Thogersen) Flesjer of Glendive; his daughters, Taryn (Stewart) Preston of Utah and Darci (Doug) Baker of Glendive and two granddaughters, Emilie and Kinnsie Baker of Glendive, and his faithful dog Cooper. He was preceded in death by his father, Lloyd Flesjer in 1988, his mother Gladys Flesjer in 2008, and brother Lorin Flesjer in 2014.
