With my most sympathetic regards to the Hastings family, close friends of Alcee, Congressional colleagues, and remaining social justice crusaders, kindly know in my absence to attend a funeral service, per his Honorable's personal request, I will never forget Representative Alcee Hastings assistance with a wage theft case, as well as our time working together as an Ally of the Human Rights Campaign from 2012-2015, when I was Co-Chair of the South Florida Steering Committee. I have requested personal representation in my absence/ability to travel, at the congressional memorial in Washington, D.C., and the Congressional Black Caucus.

At some point, I hope to attend his celebration of life in South Florida, where Representative Hastings lived for almost 60 years.

A huge void now exists in those to continue his Civil, Human and Victim Rights Advocacy. Rest in peace, knowing you touched many lives, some who do not even know what you have done for them, to never forgot, Pax Vobis Cum.

We are truly saddened by the loss of our cousin Al. We will miss the stories, the humor and "wit" that he inherited from Baby, his mother. We will also miss his continued fight and concern for all in his district. RIP Al- forever in our hearts in Altamonte Springs.
