www.osheimschmidt.comShe was born on October 4, 1967, to Ray and Margaret (Getz) Feist in Rapid City S.D. She grew up in Rapid City, graduating from Rapid City Central High School in 1985. Cheryl participated in the Central High School band and flag corps. Cheryl loved being a Cobbler and attending all the sporting events with friends.
After high school Cheryl worked for Coleman Black Hills Gold Company for many years until she decided to change careers. Cheryl then attended Western Dakota Technical College, graduating with a degree as a Pharmacy Technician. Cheryl began her new career at Monument Health in the pharmacy, pediatric pharmacy and then at the Cancer Care Institute. Through her work at the hospital, Cheryl developed relationships with so many people who became lifelong friends. Most recently, Cheryl worked at the VA in Ft. Meade where she really enjoyed working with the veterans. Not surprising to anyone who knew her, and what a good friend she was to all, while working at the VA her friendships grew even more.
Cheryl brought light and joy to everyone she touched. As cousin Norma said, she was more than fabulous; with a one-of-a kind smile that was contagious but not as much as her love and laughter. Sherry loved her family. She felt blessed to spend time with her mom having a night of cards and her mom's homemade pizza, thrifting with her sister Renee and visiting Renee and Mac in Arizona or giving her brother Leon a hard time. She loved her nieces and nephews especially her great nieces and nephews whom she lovingly referred to as "the littles." Throughout this journey, Sherry never lost her sense of humor, she always had an endearing "flip of the bird" for her brother-in-law Mac, a good eye roll and "the look" for Renee (Hey Lady!) and throw in a little bantering with Leon. Cheryl gave and received support from her bonus daughter Trista and felt all the love from her many cousins and extended family.
Cheryl enjoyed bringing her joy of baking to her work friends through delectable desserts and sharing them with all. Her love of baking also brought joy to her 4-legged friends, sharing all her homemade treats with so many. Cheryl never met a fur baby she did not love. Cheryl was THE best fur baby mom to Jordie, Jade and the newest addition Bailey. Cheryl found happiness in digging in the dirt, planting a vegetable garden and various flowers; her hibiscus is amazing!
Cheryl's greatest happiness came from spending time with friends, whether it was a lunch date, dinner date, night on the town, wine tasting or just a quiet moment sitting on the porch with her favorite glass of vino. She loved "wind therapy" riding motorcycle through the Black Hills and beyond, with friends, stopping at all the local hang outs. Cheryl spent her last birthday with special friends, Kristy and Lisa driving through Spearfish Canyon, seeing the mountain goats, having a nice lunch at the Latchstring and a stop at Lisa's cabin to enjoy the waterfall.
Waiting to meet her in heaven were her dad "Pops," sister Delilah, niece Rachael and many other family members.
Lovingly remembered by her mom Margaret Feist, sister Renee (Mac) Coldwell, brother Leon (Becky) Feist and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Thank you all for your love and support these last few weeks of her journey. Cheryl will be missed by all who loved her and as she said she "will be right here" in our hearts forever.
If love could have saved her, she never would have died.
