Edward Lowry Obituary

RAPID CITY - Edward H. Lowry, 75, Rapid City, died at his residence Monday, Sept. 29, 2003. He was born Feb. 1, 1928, at St. Louis, Missouri, the son of Ed and Irene (Teddy) Lowry. He attended Brown Military Academy, the Hollywood Television LABS and Pacific State University. Ed married Mary Lou Bishop on Sept. 24, 1949, in Rapid City. The couple resided in Beverly Hills, Calif., until returning to Rapid City in 1968. He served in the U.S. Air Force, and during that time he served at Ellsworth Air Force Base. Ed was employed with Northrop Aircraft as an Electronic Engineer, and he was also an organ and keyboard specialist. He was a member of the Music Instrument Technicians Assn. and was a true craftsman with his various endeavors, especially in his hobby of building miniatures and doll houses. Survivors include his wife Mary Lou Lowry, Rapid City; two sons, Edward Lowry IV, Rapid City, and Heath Lowry and his wife Dorene, Salt Lake City, Utah; two daughters, Ann Lowry, Rapid City, and Jamie Olson and her husband Ira, Rapid City; twelve grandchildren, including a special grandchild, Michael Hannahs, Jennifer Pritzkau, Monica Lowry, Bobby Herron, Andrew Herron, Rachel Herron, Edward Lowry V, Tony Lowry, Heath Lowry Jr., Rebekah Lowry, Joshua Lowry and Sarah Lowry. An open house to celebrate his life will be held from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday at his residence, 223 St. Charles St. All friends and relatives are invited to the open house. A memorial has been established to Hospice of the Hills. Arrangements are under the direction of the Osheim-Catron Funeral Home.

I always looked forward to my time with Ed, both working with him and as a friend. He always treated me as a person of value, deserving respect. He will be missed in my life, more than words can express!
