Jeremy Thompson Obituary

LETCHER - Jeremy Thompson, 17, of Letcher, SD, died early Saturday morning, May 17, 2003, as the result of an automobile accident. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, May 21, at the Plankinton Public School Gymnasium with Rev. Don Torala and Rev. Paul Knudson officiating. Interment will be in the Trinity Lutheran Cemetery at Storla with military graveside rites. Visitation will be on Tuesday evening from 7 to 9 P.M. at the United Methodist Church in Plankinton with a prayer service at 7:30. The Shearer Funeral Home of Plankinton is assisting with the arrangements. Jeremy was born August 6, 1985, at Mitchell, SD, to Marlon and Colleen (Walford) Thompson. He grew up on his family's farm north of Plankinton, attended the Plankinton Public School and graduated from Plankinton High School this year. While growing up he had a special poodle dog named Goldie and currently had a chocolate lab named Naz. He helped on the family farm working closely with his Uncle Doyle and helping his dad doing his carpentry work and he installed and loved to listen to his car stereo system. He also loved to hunt and looked forward to the out of state and out of area hunters that came every year. While in grade school he played basketball and had been on the high school track team and was currently a member of the high school golf team. He was baptized and confirmed and was a member of the Storla Lutheran Church. Jeremy has also been a member of the South Dakota Army National Guard since September of 2002. He is survived by: his parents, Marlon and Colleen Thompson of Letcher; his sister, Jamie Thompson of Brookings; his maternal grandparents, Gilbert and Marylis Walford of Watertown; his paternal grandparents, Alvin and Margene Thompson of Letcher; 3 uncles, Terry and his wife Simie Walford of Watertown, Mark and his wife Delia Thompson of Rapid City, and Doyle Thompson of Letcher; 4 aunts, Jan and her husband Casey Lawrence of Watertown, Liz and her husband Ed Rademeakers of Oxnard, CA, Susan and her husband Brian Dodd of Mt. Vernon, and Cindy and her Husband Keith Gerlach of Stickney; and several cousins.
