Lucille Lucca Obituary

YANKTON - Lucille L. Lucca, 82, Yankton, died Oct. 26, 2010.

Lucille was born April 8, 1928, in Lead to Umberto and Anna Lucca. She attended schools in Lead, graduating in 1947.

Lucille worked as a receptionist for a local eye doctor, then as secretary for Lead High School from 1951-58. After the death of her mother in 1959, Lucille traveled and worked in Colorado and California visiting family. Eventually she returned to South Dakota settling in Yankton working at Walbaum Drug Store from 1973-78.

Lucille was very active in her church, first as a member of Sacred Heart and in her later years as a member of St. Benedict congregation. In addition, she was a member of St. Elizabeth Circle.

Survivors include her older brother, Marion Lucca and niece, Diana Glenn, both of Belle Fourche; nephews, Greg Lucca, Rapid City, Mark Lucca, Missoula, Mont., Bill Carter and John Carter, both of California; and Don Work of Washington; nieces, Marya Lucca-Thyberg of Nebraska, Linda Cornish of Connecticut, and Cheryl Martin of Colorado; as well as 10 great-nieces and nephews and 18 great-nieces and nephews throughout the country.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and sisters, Lidia Work and Louise Carter.

Her ashes will be buried at a later date in South Lead Cemetery.

I graduated from Lead High in 1955, and can well remember Miss Lucca working in the the office, she was always so plesant, and helped you with a smile. I know she will be missed by her loving family. Kay Geisner Hall
