Randy Mott Obituary

RAPID CITY - Randy Morris "Peanut" Mott II, 15, Rapid City, God his Savior took him home on Friday, Sept. 18, 2009, to skateboard in Heaven. Randy fought a heroic battle against rejection due to his recent lung transplant. Randy was born Dec. 18, 1993, in Columbus, Ga. His family moved to Rapid City in 2005. He only lived among us for a short time in our community; however, he touched so many with his energy for life. He wanted to do much and experience life to the fullest. He loved skateboarding, playing his guitar and developing his artist talents. Most of all he just loved hanging out with his friends and family. When he was an eighth-grader at Dakota Middle School in May 2008, he was presented the Gutzon Borglum Award by the Rushmore Optimist Club. In Nov. 2008, when he was a freshman at Central High School, he received an Executive Proclamation with regards to Youth Appreciation Week from the Mayor of Rapid City. He also received an award for Exceptional Accomplishments and Contributions to our community from the Noon Optimist Club of the Black Hills for 2008-2009. Randy is survived by his parents, Randy and Debi Mott, Rapid City; his brothers, Bradley Martin Mott, Rapid City, and Edward Leroy Utley II and Niki Tascher, both of Grayville, IL; his sisters, Tabatha Gayle Utley, San Francisco, Calif., and Robin Renee and husband Randy Relfore and their son, Hunter Motos, Pine Mountain, Ga.; as well as many aunts, uncles and cousins; and his new found family at the Ronald McDonald House, Aurora, Colo. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Robert Bryan and Martha Helen Harrison, R.E. Mott and Nancy Walton Chane. Visitation will be from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at Behrens-Wilson Funeral Home. Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 24, at the Club for Boys, 320 N. 4th St. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established. Condolences may be conveyed to the family at www.behrenswilson.com

My heart goes out to Randy's family, my son Nickolys Glaser has been a classmate & school friend of Randy's since he moved here, & I lost my own son to terminal illness in 2003. No words can adequately help, except I'm so sorry & my thoughts are with you. Nickolys always talked about how funny Randy was & he got a kick out of him. He will very much be missed.

Somehow in God's all knowing wisdom He gives the greatest Grace to kids like Lil' Randy. I heard it when I talked to him on the phone and saw it when he was around me.
Randy , Debi and Marty and family, you are in my prayers.
And I believe that when he skated into Heaven that there was one special angel who welcomed her grandchild with open arms. May God keep you all.

My thoughts and prayers are with your family at this time. My son David knew Randy from the Boys Club and always talked about how much of a caring young man he was (which is rare for a 10- yr old to say)! Randy was a very special boy and Im sure he is up in Heaven riding his skateboard and watching over all of us!
