Steven Brandsted Obituary

Steven Dale Brandsted

February 9, 1962 - November 5, 2024

Steven Dale Brandsted, known by friends and family as "Weebles," passed away on November 5, 2024. He was born February 9, 1962, in Sioux Falls, South Dakota to Dick and Donna Brandsted. Steve lived with an ambitious and adventurous spirit that began as a young boy growing up in Milbank, SD living on Big Stone Lake. There he grew up working at his family's Manor Motel, exploring the lake with his best friend Todd, and later moving to Rapid City, SD and working at another one of the family's businesses, Brandsted Foods.

In 1989 he purchased a small convenience store in New Underwood, SD. Over the years he grew the business, more formally known as Steve's Superstore and World's Smallest Biker Bar into a burgeoning location which he sold in 2014. During his time in South Dakota he was an active member of the Rushmore Chapter of A.B.A.T.E., New Underwood School Board, and enjoyed riding motorcycles in the Black Hills.

In 2014 Steve relocated to Mesa, AZ where he enjoyed the warm weather and the ability to travel and explore the western parts of the US with his sidekick, a Jack Russel Terrier named Missy, or as Steve called her "Fire Dawg".

After residing in Arizona, Steve pursued a lifelong dream which led him to North Carolina where he prepared and planned to set sail to the Caribbean aboard a 42' Catalina named "Caroline." The quote, "Work hard, play hard," captures the essence of Steve's life. Whether it was scuba diving, riding motorcycles, exploring, Steve was always up for an adventure.

Steve is survived by his three children, Josh (wife Kelsey), Zach, and Alexis Brandsted, and four grandchildren. Steve was preceded in death by his parents, Dick and Donna Brandsted.

As we remember Steve, we invite you to share your memories of him and upload photos to the memorial page. Your contributions will help us all to remember and celebrate the adventurous, spirited, and ambitious man we knew and loved.

Steve's funeral service will be held on November 23, 2024 at New Underwood Community Church, 300 S Baily Avenue, New Underwood, SD. The service will take place at 10:00 a.m.

My deepest condolences on your loss. Steve was a great neighbor, always willing to lend a hand, an ear or just sit and visit over a beer. I will always remember his sense of humor. Godspeed my friend, until we meet again.
