Steven Giuseffi Obituary
March 19, 1952 - June 28, 2025
Dr. Steven Arthur Giuseffi, 73, of Spearfish, S.D., passed away on June 28, 2025. Born in Cincinnati, Ohio, Steven was the son of Dr. Jerome and Runette Giuseffi. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Jerry and Mark.
Carrying forward his family legacy of skilled tailors traversing into healthcare, Steve imbued great skill, precision, and care into his work with patients. He became an accomplished, compassionate, and dedicated surgeon after earning his medical degree from the University of Cincinnati and completing his residency at University of Wisconsin. In 1985, Steven joined the Family Medical Clinic in Spearfish, which later became part of Banner Health and subsequently Monument Health, proudly serving the tri-state area for nearly four decades. He had immense pride in and gratitude for practicing a broad spectrum of general surgery and medicine, from gastrointestinal and cardiothoracic surgery to even delivering babies via C-sections. He viewed patient care as a calling, but most of all a privilege and an honor.
Steve married Kristen Liudahl, and together they raised three sons: Dr. Steven Adam (Danielle), Dr. Aaron Kyle (Raul), and Dr. Karl Evan (Makenzie). He deeply treasured his grandchildren: Sydney, Jackson, Mila, Sienna, and Landry. Steve found great joy in hiking, swimming, skiing, and paddle boarding in the Black Hills, and sharing these experiences with family and friends. Other special places for him were Pactola Reservoir, Glacier and Yellowstone National Parks, Big Sky, and Ft. Myers beach.
Having retired more than five years ago, Steve appreciated ongoing interactions with former patients, colleagues, and the community of Spearfish and the Black Hills. He particularly delighted in reconnecting with patients which sometimes came through unexpected encounters, like meeting those he had delivered as babies decades earlier.
Steven is survived by his wife Kristen of forty-five years; his sons and their spouses; grandchildren; brother David; brothers in-law, Dr. Gene (Carol) Liudahl, Dr. Jeff (Jean) Liudahl, Dr. Kevin (Camille) Liudahl; Bella, their beloved dog; numerous nieces and nephews, relatives and friends.
A celebration of Steven's life will be held at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Spearfish, S.D., on July 5th at 10:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations to the Humane Society of the Black Hills or the Western Hills Humane Society.

To Dr. Steven Giuseffi´s Family,
We just heard that our favorite doctor went to heaven and rejoice in that.
We were his patients for many years so know of his goodness and peace.
His was a miracle operation on me (Claire Ripley) in 1990 when he successfully removed the cancer cells from my colon and stomach. Now at 91 I thank the Lord for Dr. Giuseffi´s expertise and caring heart. Now you three Doctor sons are here to carry on his legacy of healing. Mrs. Giuseffi, may the joy of your marriage be a blessed memory and family healing bring peace to all.

Dr. Giuseffi was such a genuinely nice man. I taught preschool to two of his sons when they were little and they were such little gems! He and his wife were absolutely the sweetest people. Seeing both Aaron and Kyle grew up to be doctors like their dad warms my heart. They were such fun to teach and a wonderful family. Rest in Peace Sir. My deepest prayers to his family.
