Steve opened the office for AIM at El Centro de la Raza, I was the Deputy Director at the time, along with the office to Free Leonard Peltier and added a spirit of struggle that made our movement stronger! I really appreciated his laughter and creativity in moving the issues along! RIP Carnal presente!

We never met Steve, but when his brother, Jim, was in Germany, we heard that Steve came to hospital. So we bought Jim a flight ticket back to the States and gave him some cds with good music for Steve. That ws in May 2001. As German Leonard Peltier supporters we stood in contact with Jim and so via Jim also with Steve. With these words we want to honour Steve for all his engagement and all his efforts to free Leonard. He will be always in our minds.

My dad and all of us kids got to spend his last few days with him. They were very preciuos to me. I miss him dearly. I got to ask him what his wishes were before he passed on and he told me that he would like for all 7 of us kids to try to meet up with eachother and spend some time together in rememberance of him. I know he enjoyed seeing us ALL together laughing and joking with eachother.
i know that he loved us all deeply and each one of us had a special place in his heart. I hope and pray that one day soon his last final wishes will come true. I miss my little brothers and sisters. I would also like to thank each and everyone who has sent ther condolences to our family. They were greatly appreciated.
May my father rest in peace!!!!!!

I just found out a couple days ago, and my heart sank. Another warrior ~ gone.
My deepest sympathies go out to Steve's family ~ he will be greatly missed, I am sure. And also to Leonard, as I know Steve was one of his closest and greatest advocates. His loss is much too great and too deep to put into words. All we can do is press on with what Steve was unable to finish so that his efforts are not in vain.
I met Steve at the Valyermo Fall Festival back in '86, '87? We talked about Leonard ~ he described him as his

Hey, I miss my grandfather a whole lot.
I miss him, and I loved him very much. I was very glad that I got to sit down and talk to him two days before he passed away. I was very sad, but he told me not to be. But how can I not be? Now I know that he is safe from danger!

I know that Steve is a world renowned warrior. To me, he was a good friend and confidant. When he was here in Elwha he always took the time to talk to you. He will truly be missed all across Indian Country. I want to thank Steve's family for sharing him with us. Although Steve wasn't with us very long he will always be remembered.

Oh my goodness, does that old picture bring back memories. Memories of zipping across a couple of states at the drop of a hat to go and take care of Biz.
I used to have a copy of one picture similar to this and it got lost in a move. I also miss the pictures of us all at Crowdogs back in 74.
I remember too a picture of Ha-ee-nai and I that ended up in one of Richard Erdo's books, I think it is called The Sioux. Hehehehee, they made it sound like all NW People did was go back to Crowdogs to Ceremony and to eat. Oh we did tons more than that, hehehee, but that is another story.
You have all grown up to be such wondrous people. Your Father is missed. I have a tons of stories from the good old days (70's). If you ever want to hear them let me know and I can either come up there or ya'll can come on down here. Or I could (gasp) try and write up a lot of those old stories.
Your Dad did many good things for the people and your Mom is always a tower of strength, pride, power and most of all love.
I hope that a lot of people make it up there for the memorial. Prayers, Hugs~n~more to all ya'll.

We miss my Father Steve R Robideau very much. His wisdom, strength and courage touched alot of hearts. He always talked about the attack on tribal rights, tribal sovereignty, fighting for the rights of the American Indian people, and the accountabilty of the government. He was always trying to educate people about these issues. I could listen to my Dad all day long. His stories about the movement touched me because I remember the places we went and the people we met. My dad was always trying to figure out a way to free Uncle Leonard. Thanks for all your support. His oldest son, Steve Joaquin Robideau

Steve took me from talking about Leonard's case to writing for LPDC in about 1980. When I moved to Fargo, he was a regular voice on the phone -- I always knew that when I heard from Steve, there was something interesting going on! I last saw him back in Rapid City a couple years ago. He was the same guy, but said he'd been sick. I'd kept him in my prayers since then, and I will continue to keep him and his family in my prayers. He made a difference in my life and in the lives of many others.

On behalf of myself, my brothers and Oklahoma AIM, I want to send the Robideau family our condolences at the untimely taking of our relative. I know in the traditional manner this will be a hard year for all of you. So please remember that in the end we will celebrate the life of a warrior. In a private time we will share memories but for now I send you my love and support. Carter

The loss of Steve as a friend and brother cannot compare to the pain of his children and family. The loss of this warrior will be felt in the Indian community for many years to come. All of us at the Peltier Support Group in Warren extend our hearts to you . On a more personal note, I worked with Steve for many years in defense of Leonard, and he and his children became neighbors with my son and his children in Tacoma housing. They have fond memories of "Uncle Steve", and wish to hold out their heart and hands to the family. Until the Creator joins us all again we will be praying for a peaceful and speedy journey. I met Steve Robideau when he lived in Port Angeles WA around 2000. We were introduced via Chief Billy Tayac. Steve asked me to bring his eagle staff from Port Tobacco MD where it was resting there in Tayac territory back to him. We met in Grant's Pass Oregon late one night where he was reunited with his Wanbli. He gave me a blanket saying "I must give you something for what you have done for me and my family. I am gathering myself together. For what, I don't know." Steve taught me so much about being a man showing me what it means to "sort out your prayers and get ready." I will miss him deeply. His wings carried all of us.

Doghides and I always stay in touch. For these past 36 years we have acknowledged to each other the passing of a brother or sister to the spirit world. Saddly we spoke about Steve but brightened for a moment when we realized that he is with our protectors now and is with peace.
My brother Doghides can't get to a computor so I will speak for him also when I say that Steve was always a Warrior and would cover our backs anytime. Throughout the "movement" years he would stop and have coffee with us, have a smoke, and we would catch up with what was going on in Indian country. We were proud guerilla soldiers. As we got older we would speak of the younger people and hope that they would carry on just like we did for our elders. We will always remember those many times when we had the honor to be with such a Warrior as Steve Robideau.
Our best wishes and condolences go to Steve's family and clan.

My prayers, hugs and wishes go out to the family. To his Mom and them and to his Brothers, Sisters, many Cousins and such. I didn't really know his second group of children. Some are in Port Angeles.
I remember traveling with him & Tico, back in the early 70's going back and forth to Crowdogs Paradice on those wondrous caravans.
The days of NW AIM are still alive Steve. Have a safe journey to the other side. There are many of our old friends there too. The family used to know me by my other name, Sue White. I am so sorry for the family's loss.
