He was the husband of Catherine A. (Carter) Derkosh.
Born in Coaldale, Andy was the son of Eva (Bachorik), Coopersburg, and the late Andrew Derkosh.
He was a 1968 graduate of Quakertown High School. Following high school, Andy joined the U.S. Marine Corps. He served a tour of combat duty in Vietnam, where he was assigned to the First Marine Division. Andy was proud of his service to his country.
He was active in several veterans groups, including the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the American Legion, Vietnam Veterans Association and the First Marine Division Association.
Andy loved the outdoors. He spent many years of his life as a park ranger with the Montgomery County Park Service. After retiring from the park service, he formed his own metallurgical company, ADDED Technologies, Schwenksville, where he worked until his passing.
He was an avid golfer, deep-sea fisher and loved sailing, particularly in the Caribbean.
Andy was a passionate student of the American Civil War and in his lifetime amassed hundreds of volumes, artifacts and collectibles on the Battle of Gettysburg.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son, Jason L., husband of Elizabeth Derkosh, Pittsburgh; his daughter, Janel A. Derkosh, Manchester, Conn; and his sister, Barbara D., wife of Russ V. Scaramastra, Wyomissing.
Services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. in the Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home Inc., 739 Penn Ave., West Reading, PA 19611. Friends and family may call from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. in the funeral home.

My name is Mike Richard. I live in Allentown, PA and I served in the Marine Corp with Andy at Camp LeJune, North Carolina.
He had a great car (a blue Chevy Camaro). When he would "swoop" home for the weekend, he would get a hold of me on base and we would drive home from North Carolina on a Friday and drive back to North Carolina on Sunday afternoons.
It was a long drive. We would share the driving and he would let me off at the old Days Inn at Rte. 22 and 309 (usually at 12:30/1:00 a.m. in the morning). We would have all day Saturday with our families and Sunday afternoon he would pick me up at the Days Inn around 1:00/1:30 in the afternoon and it was an 8-8-1/2 hour run back to camp LaJune.
Andy was a great friend. I was sorry to read of his passing in today's paper. God bless you all. My thoughts and prayers are with you at this time.
Deepest Condolenses
Mike Richard
