She was the wife of Larry A. Lenhart.
Born in Philadelphia, she was a daughter of the late Violet Winifred (Sweeney) Chambers.
Mrs. Lenhart was employed as a special education teacher's aide for Daniel Boone School District at Amity Primary Center from September 1999 until February 2006. Previously, she was a teacher's aide at Jacksonwald Elementary Center in the Exeter School District.
She was a member of Community United Church of Christ, St. Lawrence.
Mrs. Lenhart, known to her friends as “Arnie,” was a graduate of Muhlenberg High School in 1968. She received an associate degree in special education from RACC in 2002. Mrs. Lenhart was a regular participant in the APT Scholarship Shows for Exeter Township School District, which provided a scholarship to Exeter students for their education. Most recently, she was active with the American Cancer Society through advocacy and also as a motivational speaker and humorist.
Mrs. Lenhart enjoyed sewing, gardening and watching the birds and nature in her backyard, especially the hummingbirds. She liked to write stories for children and was also working on a book for fellow cancer survivors, which will be completed by her family.
She loved all children, so it was only natural that she answered the call to work as a teacher's aide in special education. However, her favorite job was being a loving wife and mother.
She is also survived by a son, Michael A., and wife, Barbara Lenhart, Exeter Township; and a daughter, Wendy J. Lenhart, Philadelphia.
Memorial services will be Saturday at 10:30 a.m. in Community United Church of Christ, 3330 St. Lawrence Ave., Reading, PA 19606. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in memory of Arnie to the Community UCC Memorial Fund at the above address. Lutz Funeral Home Inc., 2100 Perkiomen Ave., Mount Penn, is in charge of arrangements. For online condolences, please visit www.lutzfuneralhome.com.

Be Still
Be still like the grass on a melancholy summer day
Be still like desert shrub.
Be calm and you will hear your loved one speak, in the stillness, in the calm, their love resounds.
If you are still this promise I make, you will hear the voice of your loved one helping you along your way.

Dear Larry, Michael and Wendy,
Our hearts were saddened to learn of Arnie's passing - more so that she had been ill and in much pain! Although I had not seen her in a long while, I thought of her at times with fondness. I loved her sense of humor and beautiful, beautiful smile! Being with her always lifted my spirits. What a great loss our community has suffered!
In the words of a Christian songwriter and singer, Green Steve, Arnie is "safely home". Arnie is indeed safely home in our loving Father's loving arms.
With love and prayers,
Bev and Ray

Dear Larry & Family, I was quite shocked to here of Arnie's passing. Even though I did not know her well I will never forget the time you and she invited Bing & I in for tea in your rec room. Your children were still young at the time. It was then I realize what a wonderful wife and mother she was. Her face beamed when speaking of you and your children. It was an enjoyable time chatting. Though she and my husband are in a better place now, hold on to those loving memories. It is hard to ease the pain you and your family feel. I really don't think we ever get over losing someone loved so dearly, you just learn to live without them by keeping all the loving memories alive. George and I send our deepest sympathy to you all.
Sincerely,

Dear Larry, Wendy & Michael,
We have so many precious memories of time spent with Arnie during our younger years. We first met when we all worked at Met-Ed and shared a lot of wonderful times together. We shared in the joy of the birth of each other's children and delighted in watching them play. She was so proud of all of you. We feel very blessed to have known her. She was truely one of God's angels here on earth. Her kind and gentle spirit will be missed. The beautiful memories that she created for all of you will be your comfort in the days ahead. We will pray to God asking that he place his loving arms around you and comfort you as this is what Arnie would wish for you as well.

Arnie taught me the true definition of perseverance and strength. More importantly, she exemplified what 'life' is about - Living! I admired her for demonstrating that every day is a new day to be cherished and experienced with determination. Although I know you are saddened and confused, she has touched so many people that she continues to live on in each of us. Ken and I will see you tomorrow to 'celebrate' her extraordinary time here with us all.

Wendy, Mike, and Larry,
Words can't express how much Arnie will be missed. As I know you all feel because you all took such amazing care of one another, especially during the past few years she has fought this. I will always love that woman who cheered us up no matter what was going on when we were in Jr. High Wendy all the way up to being counselors together at camp Mike. Her giving, fun-loving, and strong spirit really does show itself in each of you. She was contagious! I love you all and God is taking extra good care of your angel! I'm praying for you all in this difficult time...

Larry, Wendy and Mike,
Arnie was truly a special person. She fought the hard fight so many of us have had to fight. Anyone who knew Arnie was blessed, anyone who did not know her missed out on a beautiful person.
You guys were her life, she had everything as long as she had you. She could not have asked for anyone or anything more. You were her happiness. The world should have had more people like Arnie. As I said in my email, I am so sorry I did not ask to visit her when I saw you at the hospital Larry. I will always regret that. My prayers will be with all of you during this difficult time. Hold on to your memories and know that she is now free of all pain. God Bless You.

Oh, how my heart is breaking at the loss of my best friend, my soul-sister, my Arnie. But my spirit soars when I think of her free from the miseries of the disease that took her away from us. We can't be selfish and wish her back, but we can look for her in all the beautiful things she cherished most: the flowers, birds, trees, stars, the tranquil places where her spirit nestles and waits.
Larry, Mike, & Wendy---you know I will love her forever as I love you.

Arnie, Arnie, Arnie,
You touched my heart and my life in so many ways that I could not possibly honor your memory with mere words. You blessed me with your friendship, with your love, with your smile, your sense of humor, your courage, your grace and so much more.
In the course of a day at Amity Primary Center, your mere presense made a positive difference to all of us. In the course of your lifetime you touched the hearts of more people than you could have ever realized.
They say it's the dash between the dates on the headstone that means the most. Indeed, my friend, your dash is bursting with so many wonderful acts of generosity, kindness and love.
With a warm embrace I bless the Earth Angel you were and carry your memory in my heart as you glide now on angel's wings. I know you will continue your goodwill through eternity. I'm sure there was a special welcome home sign in Heaven when you walked through the gate.
Eternal Love and Appreciation for the Woman you will always be to me.

Arnie will be forever missed. Her heart was larger than her body - she made everyone around her feel special and always wanted to make them laugh regardless of how she was feeling. On behalf of the American Cancer Society - her family here will miss her terribly...In closing, I found this poem the other day..and it's quite fitting:
God saw you getting tired
and a cure was not meant to be,
So he put his arms around you
and whispered "Come to Me".
With tearful eyes we watched you,
as we saw you pass away.
Although we loved you deeply,
we could not make you stay.
Your Golden Heart stopped beating,
hard working hands at rest.
God broke our hearts to prove to us,
He only takes the best.
Larry, Michael, Wendy & Barbara - you are in my thoughts and prayers!
Love you Arnie!

Arnie had such a bright positive light that surrounded her. Although I haven't spoken with her in quite some time, every time I was with her, I would always think to myself what an incredibly sweet human being she was. The world has lost a truly unique and wonderful person this week.
Arnie was such an inspiration to so many. She touched everyone deeply with her sometimes quirky but always positive outlook on life. This disease may have had a strong hold on her body, but she never let it take her spirit, for her spirit was stronger than any I know.
To Arnie: In God's loving arms, you now are free of all pain. Know that you have taught us all the true meaning of strength. You will never be forgotten.
God Blessed us with your presence.
