Carl M. Moyer

Carl M. Moyer, 92, of Phoebe Berks, Wernersville, and formerly of Ontelaunee Twp., passed away on Wednesday, May 10, 2023 in the Reading Hospital. He was the husband of Doris L. (Mengel) Moyer. They were married in September 1994 and celebrated twenty-eight years of marriage. Carl was predeceased by his first wife: Shirley (Moser) Moyer. Born in West Leesport, he was the son of the late Earl M. and Catherine M. (Riegel) Moyer. Carl was a 1950 graduate of Ontelaunee High School. He was a proud U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. Carl worked at Carpenter Steel for twenty-seven years. He and his wife Shirley owned and operated Moyer's Ceramic Shop. Carl was a member of Epler's United Church of Christ, Leesport. He was a member of Goodwill Fire Company, Leesport Fire Company, Behler-Hein Post 637 American Legion, Hamburg; and Wagner-Good Post 217 V.F.W., Hamburg. Carl was an avid bowler. Surviving in addition to his wife is his daughter: Pamela A. Berta, wife of Dale, Maidencreek Twp.; one step-son: Scott W. Klopp, husband of Lisa, Bernville; and two step-daughters: Lisa L. Felcher, Bernville; and Pamela L. Leuck, Lafayette, Indiana; fourteen grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Carl was predeceased by his son: Scott A. Moyer, who died July 12, 2020; and two brothers: Clarence and Chester Moyer. Services will be held on Monday, May 15, 2023 at 11:00 am from Epler's United Church of Christ, 1151 West Leesport Road, Leesport, PA 19533. Burial will follow in St. John's (Gernant's) Cemetery, Ontelaunee Twp. There will not be a viewing or visitation with the family prior to the funeral service.
