Caroline Cole Obituary

Caroline died on October 26 after a short illness. Born on March 12, 1931 in Bethlehem, PA, she was the daughter of Evelyn (Myers) Bruch and Frederick F. Bruch. She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 52 years, John "Steve" Cole, Jr., in 2006. A 1949 graduate of Liberty High School, she graduated from Kutztown State Teachers College in 1953. Survivors include four children: John S. Cole III (Rose Fox), Amy E. Cole (Tim Walsh), Ruth Ann Cole (Mark Grounard), and Frederick A. Cole (Sharon Cole). There are three treasured nieces: Susie Reading, Amy Murray, and Janie Conroy. Cally was predeceased by her sister, Polly Reading, and nephew, Doug Reading. Cally was a devoted friend, remembering birthdays and maintaining contact with friends from childhood, college, and those met through various life experiences and the many places she lived. She enjoyed working at Tarsus in Fleetwood, packing candy for 17 years until the pandemic. She loved all animals, especially cats. Small in stature but big on positivity, Cally knew how to "make her own sunshine". She was skilled at many kinds of needlework and will be remembered by the many beautiful projects she gifted to friends and family. Cally was a member of St. John's UCC in Pricetown. Burial will be private in Nisky Hill Cemetery, Bethlehem. Donations may be made to The Humane Society of Berks County or The Animal Rescue League.

She was so caring and giving. An adopted Mom. She was a dear Treasure. I Remember being invited to many holiday dinners. After all her hard work. We would just start to eat. And the phone would ring. Not that I saw Steve didn't make it through a Holiday meal without a baby delivery 1st.

My heart is with you all. God bless you all. Beth

Dear John, George, RuthAnn and Fred, We were so sad to learn of your mom's passing. She and our mom stayed in touch all these years after all those years in Quakertown. I guess there was something about being doctors' wives and us being doctors' kids, like Jeff Debuque said. She will truly be missed. Please accept our condolences.

Many warm condolences offered to the Cole family in Caroline's loving memory. May you all be bathed in the loving memories that she shared to all of us. On behalf of the Debuque family I recall so many fond memories of Caroline's friendship with my mother Donna and your father Steve's friendship with my father Monty. You made us feel so welcome any time we were visiting on Portzer Road. Later, in life your parents were a life-line to our family after my father passed unexpectedly from metastatic colon cancer in 1975 at the age of 45. Our family always felt the support and love of your parents --especially my mother who somehow raised 6 children under the age of 15 at her age of 42. Your family was always a buoy that we could anchor to. Many kind blessings go your way in this loving memory.

Dear family of Cally,
My sincere sympathies. Cally was a lifelong friend to my mother Dee. When Mom fell I´ll with dementia we would call her dear friend so she could talk to her. To The Family of Cally,
I am so sorry to read of Cally´s passing. Harry and I always enjoyed and looked forward to our lunches together with she and John. As time passed and we moved on in years, our visits became phone calls. She phoned me a few months ago and I had planned to call her soon. Now she, John, and Harry can continue their heavenly adventures together.
May you find peace and comfort in many treasured memories.
Sincerely,
Lorraine Taylor

As the office manager of Tarsus Corp. in Fleetwood I found myself in a position of having SPECIAL employees who were always there to help. This was Cally!!! She was a tremendous help to me and so many other co-workers. Never a cross word, always a big smile for everyone. I learned to love her as a true friend after we had to close the business. I shall miss the chats, the lunches, and the visits. My sincerest sympathy to the children. You had a very loving mother. I shall truly miss her.

I´ll never forget Cally. She was not only the best neighbor, but one of my favorite friends. She cheered me up when I wasn´t feeling well and she helped me tremendously when my husband passed away. She holds a special place in my heart.

My husband and I were saddened to hear of your Moms passing. We met her when my Daughter Leigh and husband Michael moved in across the street from your Mom. We loved seeing her, and had many long talks with her. She was a beautiful ray of sunshine...and gave the best hugs! We will miss seeing her when we visit Leigh. She was someone we will never forget.
