Charles Donald Richards Mr. Charles Donald Richards, 79, of New Church, VA, passed away Monday, March 13, 2023, at his home on the Eastern Shore of Virginia. Born November 1, 1943, in Reading, PA, and raised in Fleetwood, PA, he was the son of the late John and Anna Richards. Charles graduated from Oley High School and soon after became a machinist (and later, a taxidermist). He will forever be remembered as not only having a green thumb, but a green hand. Bonsai, figs, and all things green were fostered and tended by Charles. He owned Craig's Nursery on the ESVA and was often sought out for his expertise in horticulture. Always a hard worker, he did take time to hunt ducks in his spare time. An excellent marksman, there were few feathered critters that he missed. He is survived by a son, Craig Richards, of Idaho; grandson, Kyle, of Hamburg, PA; brother, Jim Richards, and his wife, Stella, of Fleetwood; and special nieces, Diane, Doreen, and Debbie. In addition to his parents, Charles was predeceased by his brothers, Stanley Richards, Theodore Richards, and William Richards, and a sister, Jeanette Richards. His brother will notify family and friends about upcoming memorial services. Charles will be laid to rest at Gethsemane Cemetery in Laureldale, PA.
