David was born in Boyertown, PA, to his late father, Gordon H. Gabel, and his late mother, Louise G. (Burder) Gabel.
He was married to his late wife Mary E. (Wells) Gabel, who passed away in 2008.
David was employed as a truck driver for the former Hahn Contracting of Exeter Twp., now called Utility Line Service.
He was a member of the Union Lodge #479 F&A.M., a past Fire Chief of Monarch Fire Co. and a member of the Sons of The American Legion Post 626.
He is survived by two sons: Brian D., husband of Debra L. Gabel, of Exeter Twp.; and Keith A. Gabel, friend of Sharon Rizzeto of Birdsboro, PA; and companion Barbara Amole at home. He is also survived by two grandchildren; Brian Gabel Jr; and Tara, wife of Chris Turtell; and two great-grandchildren, Branden and Andrew Turtell.
David was predeceased by his daughter, Diane Gabel; and his wife, Mary Gabel.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, January 23, 2015 at the Dengler Funeral Home, Inc., 144 N. Spruce St., Birdsboro, PA 19508 at 11:00 a.m. There will be a viewing at the funeral home an hour before the service, Friday, from 10:00-11:00 a.m. The interment will be held in Birdsboro Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Monarch Fire Co. Truck Fund, 50 Pennsylvania Ave., Douglassville, PA 19518.
