Dorothy Bixler Obituary

Dorothy B. Bixler, 95, a resident of the ECC Retirement Village-Albright Campus, Myerstown, died Jan. 4, 2008, in Good Samaritan Hospital, Lebanon.

She was the widow of the Rev. John H. Bixler, who died July 15, 1996.

Born in Roseville on June 6, 1912, she was a daughter of the late John B. and Lillie (Hoffer) Lipp.

She was a member of Zion ECC, Mohnton, and taught Sunday school in the numerous churches her husband served.

She was also a member of the Women’s Christian Temperance Union, Myerstown. She was an avid reader.

She is survived by a daughter, Bonnie Sue, wife of Kenneth R. Rathman, Denver, Pa.; and a son, Michael G., husband of Wanda Bixler, Strasburg.

Other survivors include nine grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by a daughter, Sylvia F. Bixler, in 1987; a son, John D. Bixler, in 1998; two sisters and a brother.

A memorial service will be Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. in the Chapel of ECC Retirement Village-Albright Campus, Myerstown. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Manheim. A viewing will be Tuesday from 9 to 10 a.m. in Grose Funeral Home Inc., 358 W. Washington Ave., Myerstown.
