She was the wife of the late William Hunter James Sr.
Born in Thornton, PA, she was the daughter of the late George Souders Hughes Jr. and the late Helen Davis James.
Dorothy was an active, and the oldest, member of the Marshallton United Methodist Church. She was a 1937 graduate of Downingtown High School.
She is survived by children William Hunter (Sally) James Jr. of Keane, NH; Susan J. (Nicholas) Mason of Montgomery Village, MD; Betsy J. Stefferud of West Chester, PA; grandchildren Michael (Jennifer) James; Andrew, Adam and Evan James; Samuel and Abigail Mason; Erik Stefferud; and great-grandchildren Marissa and Ryan James.
She was preceded in death by sisters Phyllis Buckley and Phoebe Mercer.
Relatives and friends are invited to her visitation 10-11 a.m. Wednesday, August 21, 2013 followed by her
funeral service, 11 a.m. at the Marshallton United
Methodist Church, 1282 W. Strasburg Road, West Chester, PA 19382. Interment will be at the adjoining church cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Marshallton United Methodist Church at the above
address.

I have so many great memories of Dot. She was an awesome cook! Spent many, many Saturdays together as my Dad and Bill hunted for small game. She will be missed.
