Earl worked as a supervisor for Spring City Knitting for fifteen years, retiring in 1982; also Yocum Knitting, retiring in 1994; and also Lincoln Underwear Co.
He served in the Army during World War II.
Earl was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Pottstown, a lifetime member of Phillies Fire Co., Gablesville Club, and Keystone Fire Co., Boyertown.
He is survived by two sons, Emett Bartman, Frazer Park, CA, Mark Bartman, Frazer Park, CA; a brother, Thurman Bartman, Lewes, DE; five step-daughters: Bonnie; Connie; Cheryl; Barbara; Janet; two grandchildren; and six step-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by a daughter, Marlene Bartman; two step-grandsons, Dennis Rubright Jr., Frank W. Vroman Jr.; a fiancee, Ruth R. (Rhymer) Martin; and a sister, Margaret "Peggy" (Bartman) Dry.
Services will be private. Burial will be private in Union Cemetery, Boyertown. There will be no viewing.
Contributions may be made in his memory to Pottstown Memorial Medical Center Regional Cancer Center, 1600 E. High St., Pottstown, PA 19464.
Arrangements are by the Schumacher & Benner Funeral Home & Crematory at 359 King St. in Pottstown, PA.
