Dear Fran,
I will not be able to attend the service tomorrow, but I hold you in my heart.

Here is one vignette in remembrance:
It goes back to the first AAUW Book Sale in Pomeroy's annex. You remember! We were setting up with the books we'd collected in our homes, and there could have been more.
Then Edmund pulled up outside with a whole vanload full of books, discards from the library. Edmund to the rescue!

That impulse followed him all his life, as
borne out by the details in his obituary. He had an enormous giving spirit, though a humble mien.

But for you and your family, it is a deep personal loss. In my own way, I grieve with you and all your family and wish you peace.
Sincerely,
Pat Hummel

My you find peace in your lives at the loss. I was employed at the library while he was there. Will always remember one silly little thing about him. You could usually tell what he had for lunch. How? Some of it usually ended up on his tie.
