He was the husband of Mildred R. (Stubblebine) Loeper. Born in Reading, he was a son of the late Leo J. and Agnes (Thren) Loeper.
He was a graduate of Reading High School and Michigan Technical Institute, Detroit, MI.
Edward was a veteran of the U.S. Army during WWII, serving in the European Theatre.
He was employed by Met-Ed for 34 years, retiring as a power dispatcher in 1985.
Edward was a member of St. John Baptist de la Salle Roman Catholic Church, Shillington, where he sang in the choir.
He also sang in the Reading Pretzel City Chorus and the First Noels. Edward was a co-owner and co-leader of the Royal Serenaders.
He was a model railroading enthusiast throughout his life.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Cynthia A. Loeper-Miksell, wife of Steven Miksell, Bethesda, MD, and Steven J., husband of Elizabeth Loeper, LaPlata, MD. There are two siblings, James G., husband of Philomena Loeper, Wyomissing, and Louise (Loeper) Cawley, Montrose Manor. Two grandchildren, Brian Loeper and Melissa Loeper, also survive him.
He was predeceased by one brother, Bernard J. Loeper.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday at 11 a.m. in St. John's RCC. Both the viewing and burial will be private at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. John's Church, 420 Holland Street, Shillington, PA 19607.
